☀️ Warm weather safety around rivers and open water

With the recent sunshine, we’re seeing more people enjoying the River Thames and local waterways across Wallingford, Benson and surrounding areas. Please make sure you do so safely.

🚫 Avoid jumping into water from height

⚠️ Take care when swimming – depths can vary and hidden hazards may be present.

There have sadly been a number of water-related deaths across the UK in recent weeks, with cold water shock a contributing factor. Even on hot days, water temperatures can be dangerously low.

✅ Enter the water slowly

✅ Stay within your limits

✅ Look out for friends and others around you

📞 If someone is in difficulty in the water, call 999 immediately and ask for the Fire Service, who are specially trained for water rescues.  TVP will often attend as well, to ensure public safety and a sterile working environment.
